Gretchen retired in 1999 from a 20-year career in elective office. She served as Portland City Commissioner (90-98), Multnomah County Commissioner (1985-1990) and Oregon State Representative (1977-1983). Her primary policy interests include affordable housing, homelessness, community development, healthcare, civil rights and the Arts.
